New Features of Version 2.0
If you are not familiar with the general capabilities and features,
you should have a look at the General Information
first.
- improved program integration:
- extended access of program features via user interface
- improved data/information flow between the various programs
- PLINK integrated within SUPERLITE and RADIANCE user interface
- energy programs SUPERLINK and RADLINK integrated in SUPERLITE
and RADIANCE user interface
- new graphical user interface:
- new common GUI for simulation programs in full SAA-standard
(SystemApplicationArchitecture), similar to MS Windows program
manager
- improved documentation:
- large parts have been supplemented and enlarged
- release contains extended tutorials
- improved online help/documentation:
- parts of the documentation are available as HTML documents
that can be displayed with an arbitrary WWW-browser
- online help has been largely extended
- bug fixing:
- several problems of former versions have been solved
- suggestions of user have been incorporated
- largely extended modelling limits:
- SUPERLITE now makes full use of extended memory;
limits are e.g.:
- 100 surfaces
- 20 windows
- 20 visual obstructions
- 400 nodes
- support of artificial lighting calculations:
- candlepower distribution data in IES format is directly supported
- support of "simple input mode":
- easy-to-use menu-oriented input of geometrically simple scenarios
for parametric studies at early design stages
- for this input, the use of a CAD program is not necessary
- improved graphical input control:
- overhangs, luminaires and external sunshading devices can
be visualized
- new output plot capabilities:
- improved algorithms:
- adaptive meshing for work surfaces improves accuracy of results
- new RADLINK program:
- link between daylighting calculations using RADIANCE and thermal
simulation programs
- enables the user to determine energy and thermal impact of
complex daylighting systems in geometrically complex models
- easy to use due to being based on RAD program
- improved integration of utility programs:
- program for calculation of sunshine probability files from
TRY weather data sets is included in user interface
- new output plot capabilities:
- graphic output program has been completely revised
- improved functionality
- SVGA support
- support of large number of printers and standard graphic formats
- new programs and additional ports from the UNIX version:
- new 3D-DXF converter dxfconv converts up to AutoCAD
R13 files
- obj2rad - converts WAVEFRONT files to RADIANCE scene
description
- rlux - calculating illuminances for given view points
and directions
- rillum - calculating illuminances at given points
- picture converter ra_gif and ra_tif
- objview - visualizing RADIANCE objects (quick rendering)
- improved integration in ADELINE system:
- extended number of programs accessible by user interface
- extended tutorial adapted to ADELINE/DOS version
- extended materials database
- additional objects are available:
- models of furniture and EDP equipment
- textures
- calculation files
- candlepower distribution files
- more complex examples
